Our 2015 Hyde Vineyard Cabernet Franc is the epitome of a true Napa Valley Cabernet Franc. Grown in the cooler Carneros region, this wine comes alive with vibrant red fruit character. The pencil lead undertones further display the typicity of this noble grape while the dark fruit flavors reveal its Hyde vineyard pedigree. Expect this wine to further reveal its many layers as it ages gracefully in the cellar. Total production of only 200 cases.

Vineyard Notes
Located in the Los Carneros AVA in Napa Valley, Hyde Vineyard’s East facing slopes provide ideal sun exposure when paired with the cool coastal winds that blow from San Pablo Bay through Carneros. Considered one of the superstar vineyards of the Napa Valley, the grapes from this location are perfect for crafting our single vineyard Cabernet Franc.
Vintage Notes
2015 is the vintage in which drought was on everyone’s mind. Rainfall the previous vintages was minimal at best and 2015 was very dry for most of the State. However, thanks to some early season rains, Napa Valley received 75% of normal rainfall. With cooler temperatures during the growing season the demand for water was kept to a minimum. Those cool temperatures also contributed to uneven fruit set which resulted in much lower than average yields. Sugar accumulation was slightly ahead of flavor development and so we harvested most varieties with more sugar than in the previous years. Lighter harvests typically result in more concentrated wines and 2015 is no exception, but as a result we produce fewer cases.
Winemaker's Notes
Six day cold maceration followed by seven days of fermentation. Daily pumpovers during active fermentation at 88°F. 32 days total vat time followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels (50% new).
