Deep brick red with a slight purple hue to the wine’s color. Beguiling blackberry and blueberry dominate the aromas with more complex cranberry, cinnamon, current and pipe tobacco coming through as the aromas unfold. With noteworthy tannins and an earthy mouthfeel, the wine has a lingering, long and pleasant finish making it drinkable today and for many years to come.
A brilliant vintage from start to finish, 2012 gave us nothing but perfect ripening weather. Warm days, cool nights and not a drop of rain until all of our grapes were in the cellar. A bountiful harvest with some of the best fruit ever.
Six day cold maceration followed by 10 days of fermentation. Daily pumpers during active fermentation at 88 degrees F. 33 days total vat time followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels, 60% new. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Syrah.
