Our 2016 Chardonnay demonstrates a brilliant, youthful color supported by aromas of honeysuckle and peach. Its medium body reveals hints of minerality and complexity from nine months of sûr lies aging.
Though the southernmost sub AVA within Napa Valley, Carneros also features some of the coolest temperatures in the valley as a result of its proximity to the San Pablo Bay and the fog cover that arrives nearly every morning, burning off slowly through the day. This climate and the clay dominated soils that prevent deep rooting result in lower yields with more concentrated characteristics.
2016 saw another nearly perfect vintage in the Napa Valley. Winter precipitation afforded relief from drought concerns but a very nice Spring and mild Summer brought slightly less than average yields, smaller clusters and more concentration in the fruit. Mid October brought substantial rains to the region, the first in quite some years, however we were fortunate to already have all of our grapes in.
Whole cluster pressed. Fermented and aged in stainless steel as well as neutral French oak barrels. Aged on the lees for nine months with minimal racking and minimal stirring.
