Our Hyde Vineyard gem reveals espresso, charcoal and violets followed by waves of salty caramel, boysenberry and licorice. Youthful restraint surrenders to graphite, roasted and sanguine meats, while hints of white pepper accompany the palate through a long and winding finish.
2010 saw heavy spring rains and cool spring temperatures that persisted through May. Budbreak consequently was delayed but favorable weather returned in June just in time for bloom and fruit set. Cool summer days, random heat spikes and early autumn rainfall contributed to a long growing season that provided ripe fruit while maintaining acidity, structure, and varietal typicity.
Four-day cold maceration followed by seven days of fermentation. Daily delesatage in addition to pumpovers during active fermentation at 88°F. 20 days total vat time followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 20 months in 100% French oak barrels (5% new, 95% 10 years old)
